Alex: getting wedding ready with Numan
Despite previous attempts at weight loss through diet and exercise, Alex (24) found success with Numan's Weight Loss Programme. He spoke to us about his experience.
Can you tell us about your background and what led you to start the Weight Loss Programme?
I’m a director of Global Acquisitions based in Newport, South Wales where I oversee high-level events. In terms of my weight, the prospect of looking and feeling my best for my upcoming wedding was a big motivator.
What changes did you notice after starting the programme?
I used to go out for fast food frequently, but I started opting for more balanced means because I wasn't as hungry. I also didn't experience any side effects, which was great. It has significantly reduced my craving for sweets and unhealthy snacks. Also, I've picked up new habits like going to the gym, which wasn't part of my routine before. I started at 136 kg and am down to 125 kg after 3 months of using the programme.
How quickly did you notice a change?
My appetite reduced within a few days. I used to have three big meals a day and had a sweet tooth. It’s been great for cravings - I just don’t want unhealthy food anymore.
Were there any benefits that surprised you?
It gave me a lot more free time to do things I enjoy and I also had more energy to enjoy these things. It was nice to get into a habit of going to the gym 3 times a week or so.
Have you noticed any physical improvements?
I had a knee issue before which my weight didn’t help at the time - I’ve noticed that’s not an issue anymore. And as well as losing weight, I quit smoking, which was a huge step towards improving my overall health. The programme gave me the motivation to do more.
Do you think the programme has affected your mental or emotional wellbeing?
The positive changes in my lifestyle and weight loss boosted my overall mood and confidence. It’s changed my mindset for the better. Cravings are a thing of the past. Before, every day felt like a cheat day. Now, I go for healthy options like soups and have the energy to focus on activities I enjoy, not just the next pub visit.
